Rhys Cave Wins Another Local Contest

Back row cornet player, Rhys Cave has recently  been awarded the title of Thurrock Young Musician of the Year after impressing the judging panel with several performances on the Cornet.
The contest, held annually by Thurrock Music Services and supported by the rotary club is open to any brass, piano, percussion, woodwind or string players currently studying at school in Thurrock and includes instrumental heats before the winners of each heat compete in a Final at the Gable Hall School the following day.
Rhys is no stranger to Solo contests having been crowned Basildon young musician of the year in 2008 as well as winning prizes in a number of other contests including the SCABA solo contests in 2008 and 2010.
Rhys was accompanied on the day by the Aveley & Newham Band’s Solo Horn player David Howell.
Congratulations to Rhys on another fine result and we will await many more to come.
